Accessioning Job Description The Manager of Accessioning will
oversee daily accessioning operations for a high-volume production
environment at the Chantilly, VA branch, ensuring productivity,
accuracy, and compliance. Responsibilities Lead and mentor a team
consisting of 4 direct people leaders and over 60 indirect team
members. Quickly learn and independently operate laboratory systems
and workflows within defined onboarding timelines. Maintain
consistent professional conduct, including punctuality and
engagement during training. Provide leadership, coaching, and
accountability for supervisors and frontline staff. Ensure timely
completion of operational tasks, reporting, and end-of-shift
responsibilities. Communicate clearly and professionally with staff
and leadership, delivering accurate updates and following through
on commitments. Focus on assigned responsibilities, demonstrating
strong time management and adaptability to operational needs,
including extended or non-standard hours. Maintain productivity
standards, quality assurance metrics, and proper staffing for all
departments. Enforce staff compliance with company policies and
standard operating procedures. Manage the P&L for the
department. Evaluate performance of leaders and team members.
Organize workflow to meet production specifications and deadlines.
Collaborate with various functional areas to identify and implement
process improvements. Enforce health and safety regulations to
ensure compliance. Communicate any problems or obstacles to
management. Essential Skills Minimum 5 years of leadership
experience. Bachelor's Degree in a Science Discipline. MT/MLT
eligibility (certification is a plus but not required). 10 years of
MT/MLT experience in laboratory settings. Strong working knowledge
of a high-volume production operation. Familiarity with laboratory
information systems (LIS). Excellent communication skills, both
written and verbal. High attention to detail with strong
organizational and prioritization skills. Strong critical thinking
skills for decision-making in a fast-paced environment. Additional
Skills & Qualifications Associate's degree required; bachelor's
degree preferre d. Strong computer skills and proficiency in
Microsoft Office. Ability to coach and develop leaders to drive
change and continuous improvement. Willingness to work extended or
non-standard hours based on operational needs. Ability to work at a
sustained fast pace, with prolonged walking/standing and regular
lifting up to 30 pounds throughout the shift. Work Environment This
role requires managing at least 70 people onsite in a very
fast-paced, metric-driven environment to ensure timely arrival of
specimens at the airport. The branch is the largest in the country,
with work hours starting at 3:30 PM and potentially extending as
late as 2:30 AM. This position involves handling client concerns
such as lost or late specimens. The work is not limited to an
8-hour day, as the expectation is to ensure all specimens are
processed and completed promptly. Dress code and other workplace
conditions will adhere to standard laboratory safety and
operational protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent
position based out of Chantilly, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range
for this position is $110000.00 - $140000.00/yr. Employees receive
