Managing Scientist for our Chemical Regulation & Food Safety
Practice in Washington, DC. In this role you will work as part of a
team to develop high-quality, creative, and practical solutions to
problems that affect our clients' ability to conduct business
globally. Our experienced staff includes both technical and
regulatory consultants who are experienced in foods, food
ingredients, nutrition, and claims substantiation.The successful
candidate will utilize their education, experience and skills in
Nutrition Science, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field of
study. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise conducting
and evaluating clinical nutrition studies and will have practical
experience with conducting reviews of relevant literature,
summarizing the literature, and preparing critical reviews. The
candidate will be able to work independently and as a team member
for complex technical and regulatory projects related to food
safety and nutrition. Additional responsibilities will include
providing technical peer review, supporting interdisciplinary teams
on a wide-range of nutrition and food safety-related topics, and
establishing a network of contacts for purposes of business
development. This position offers significant opportunities for

- Providing technical expertise to our clients related to food
manufacturing as well as food safety risk assessment and risk
management associated with regulatory compliance and industry best
practices
- Identifying new clients through business development and
marketing efforts
- Performing literature and internet research as related to
project work
- Tabulating key data from information identified in literature
searches and drafting critical reviews
- Reviewing and summarizing client data
- Synthesizing technical and regulatory information
- Supporting development of databases of information and large
technical documents
- Providing high quality oral and written client
deliverables
- Editing and proofreading complex regulatory and technical
reports
- Managing and tracking client projects, project deliverables,
and budgets
- Mentoring junior staffYou will have the following skills and
qualifications
- Ph.D. with a concentration in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology,
Microbiology, Agriculture, Engineering, or related sciences
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in industry, trade
associations, academia, government, or consulting
- Extensive knowledge of food ingredients, processing, supply
chain management, distribution, and retail/food service and related
regulatory practices
- Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous reviews of the
scientific literature and present clear and concise summaries and
critical evaluation
- Ability to analyze and synthesize nutrition and food safety
pre-clinical and clinical data
- Experience analyzing or interpreting dietary and health
outcomes data
- Quantitative skills and experience with statistical and
regression tools
- Publication record based on research in a relevant
discipline
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills
- Intellectual ability and comfort to work with and communicate
effectively with non-scientists
- Strong data management and computer skills, specifically with
Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and statistical software
programs (e.g., STATA, SAS, R)
- Proven ability or potential to build an existing personal
consulting practice comprised of a substantial client

with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed
and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager
level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual
bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.The
base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and
capabilities, which will be assessed during the interview
process.Salary RangeUSD $130,000.00 - USD $176,800.00 /Yr.Benefits
