As a Registered Nurse, you will provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patients, families, nurses and healthcare delivery teams. Your ability to integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum, to include patient and family education, is of vital importance. Communicating effectively and working cooperatively with others while having respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines is required. Your ability to determine processes for delivery of care from direct patient/family communication, technology and other healthcare team member collaboration is essential.
Inova Alexandria Hospital's Family Centered Care is a 35 bed unit supporting a Level 3 NICU.
A postpartum nurse assumes care for the mother/baby couplet shortly following delivery. The nurse monitors the mother frequently during her recovery period and the body's transition back to normalcy. The nurse monitors the baby's transitional period from intrauterine into the world. Supporting breastfeeding is a key component in the postpartum period for the couplet dyad. Maintaining pain control, educating on self-care and newborn care along with handling deviations from current plan of care are top priorities for the RN.

    Required Experience: A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.

    • Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN); OR Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN)

      • If Associates Degree RN, the following requirements will apply:

        • Enroll in an accredited BSN program within 6 months of start date
          
        • Complete BSN within 24 months of start date
          
          
          
        • Minimum Licensure/ Certification Requirement:

          • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
            
          • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.
