Credit Officer

Job Description:

Performs analysis of loan packages for both Commercial & Industrial and Commercial Real Estate loan transactions, determining appropriate facility structure and whether or not the loan request is within Burke & Herbert Bank's risk parameters. Also assists with a variety of other Credit Risk Management activities including, but not limited to, monitoring delinquent loans and developing effective action plans to address these.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze requests for new loans, renewals and modifications to existing loans to determine viability, approving or declining these as necessary. Lending authority will be commensurate with experience.
  • Ensure loans reviewed carry an accurate risk rating.
  • Adhere to loan policy as well as all other Bank policies & procedures.
  • Assist Relationship Managers with structuring of new and existing loans.
  • Work with Relationship Managers to address credit quality concerns.
  • Monitor receipt of required documents including financial statements and covenant compliance certificates, and works with Relationship Manager to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Determine appropriate strategies for addressing covenant defaults.
  • Work closely with Bank examiners as well as both external and internal loan review.
  • Monitor delinquencies and develop effective action plans for these loans. Other Duties
  • Complies with all policies and procedures as applied to the Bank's BSA/AML policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Skills/Abilities
  • Credit analysis.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret different types of financial statements, including company-prepared, tax returns and audits.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers.
  • Maintain confidentiality. Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has supervisory responsibilities.

    Salary Grade = 16

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Office environment with job duties conducted via telephone, face to face meetings, and on the computer.

    Physical Demands

    This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and opening cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.

    Travel

    Travel may be required for this position.

    Education and Experience
  • College degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years' related experience.
  • Strong credit skills.
  • Jack Henry experience a plus.
  • General business computer skills (Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel).
