Description:
The Systems Engineer provides technical, engineering, and analytical services for Test and Evaluation (T&E) for Combat System software. The T&E effort supports the government's responsibility to determine if the combat system is ready to be delivered to the ship and certified for use in the fleet.
The position/duties include the evaluation of system level requirements, writing of test cases, scenarios, and test procedures to test the operational capabilities defined by the of the system requirements and defined mission threads, execution of the procedures, data analysis, and the creation of concise trouble reports to allow the system developers and subject matter experts to understand a recreate the problem identified and well as characterize the impact to the overall system capabilities.
The position requires working within a contractor/ government integrated test team and supporting the customer with additional backup data, research, and analysis to support the test findings and to support recommendations for software certification.
The primary work location is Dahlgren, VA, but the position requires about 20% travel primarily to Corona, CA to support test events and requires flexibility for short notice test site support.
Level of experience/Education:

• 
  
• 
  United States citizen and an active SECRET clearance
  
  
• 
  Eight (8) years' experience in the engineering, design, development, or testing and evaluation of Navy combat systems.
  
  
• 
  Five (5) years specific experience with four (4) years of recent experience (within the last 7 years) in any of the following:
  
  
• 
  Test requirements definition
  
  
• 
  Test Plan/Procedures development, maintenance, and execution
  
  
• 
  Test data reduction and analysis
  
  
• 
  Computer program performance analysis, reporting, and console operations
  
  
• 
  Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and/ or Navy Operational Combat Systems experience are a plus.
  
  
• 
  Experience with the combat systems engineering or test and evaluation is highly desired
