attaching documents. JOB DESCRIPTION FBI Computer Scientists are
part of a highly collaborative investigative team working to
prevent cyberattacks that include counterintelligence plots, fraud,
bank robberies, and more. Because our work is constantly changing
and expanding to meet new challenges imposed by rapid advances in
technology, terrorism, and intelligence threats, you will serve on
the front line of helping us stay ahead of the next threat. Whether
designing, developing, or testing tools and systems to ensure our
national security-if initiative and diligence are all it takes for
you to rise to the challenge-a Computer Scientist career at the FBI
is calling. Some units may be relocating to Huntsville, AL, in
2024/2025. SALARY LEVEL Pay level for this position: GS Level 7-15:
$54,111.00-$183,500.00Salary shown is the base salary for the grade
levels. Salary is also commensurate with professional experience
and locality pay rates.*DUTIES* Analyzes state-of-the-art advances
in analytic methodologies to evaluate computer science/mathematical
underpinnings. Is responsible for the
design/development/implementation in a computational framework of
major new advances. Addresses existing inadequate methodological
approaches based on in-depth theoretical knowledge and/or original
problem-solving. Investigates difficult and unresolved problems
involving highly complex network and telecommunications equipment
software. Analyzes processes to be automated, including existing
software products or systems as well as requirement analysis
involving end user/systems. MAJOR DUTIES GS-7: Assists with design
work, development, testing, and evaluation of software
applications. Assists with documenting customer requirements and
business rules. Assists with gathering information to be included
in presentations and papers.GS-9:In addition to the above: Assists
with design work, development, testing, and evaluation of software
applications. Documents customer requirements and business rules
and submits that documentation to the project leader.GS-11:In
addition to the above: Performs design work, development, testing
and evaluation of software applications. Assists with coordinating,
integrating, and providing direction of efforts to ensure protected
automated support applications/systems. Assists with developing
presentations and papers that are to be presented before internal
and/or external groups or organizations.GS-12:In addition to the
above: Provides guidance and technical advice to less-experienced
software developers.GS-13:In addition to the above: Participates in
Design Review Board meetings to ensure overall integration and
synthesis of applications, systems, and databases. Assists with
developing and designing component-based multitier enterprise
applications and web services. Assists with coordinating,
integrating, and designing/developing automated architecture to
ensure effective communication and achieve goals. Participates in
presentations before internal and/or external groups or
organizations.GS-14:In addition to the above: Participates in
presentations and in delivering papers before internal and/or
external groups or organizations. Incorporates new software
technologies with one or more components to include product
planning and external specifications generation. Assists with
guidance provided to a multispecialty work group in the planning,
design, implementation, and maintenance of web services.GS-15:In
addition to the above: Leads Design Review Board meetings to ensure
overall integration and synthesis of applications, systems, and
databases. Develops and deploys component-based multitier
enterprise applications and web services. Coordinates, integrates,
and designs/develops automated architecture to ensure effective
communication and achieve goals. Leads presentations and delivers
papers before internal and/or external groups or organizations.
Provides guidance to a multispecialty work group in the planning,
design, implementation and maintenance of web services. KEY
REQUIREMENTS All applicants must: Be a U.S. citizen. Be able to
obtain a Top Secret Clearance. May be required to obtain Sensitive
Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance. Meet the FBI's
Employment Eligibility requirements. Some travel may be required.
Have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver's license. EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION Candidates must have a
bachelor's degree or higher from a U.S.-accredited college or
university. GS-7: Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with
superior academic achievement or one full year of graduate-level
education. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all
the requirements of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college
or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2)
grade-point average of 3.0 or higher as recorded on an official
transcript or as based on courses completed during the final two
years of the curriculum, or (3) honor society membership. GS 9:
Applicant must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two
full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading
to such a degree or LLB or JD, if related. GS 11: Applicant must
have a PhD OR equivalent doctoral degree OR three full years of
progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a
degree OR LLM, if related. GS 12 and above: Education may not be
substituted for Specialized Experience (SE) at this grade level.
