University Athletics Department is seeking applicants for an
Athletics Communications Assistant. This is a fulltime, benefitted
position located on our main campus in Winchester, VA.
Responsibilities: Assist the Athletics Communications Director in
covering and reporting for all 22 of the universitys
intercollegiate athletics programs. The main functions of this
position include: all in-game statistics, pre-game and post-game
releases for all home and away contests, game notes documents,
photography, radio and in person interviews, all website content,
all social media content, video broadcasts for over 110 home
events, press box management for all home events in the James R.
Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center, Shentel Stadium, Aikens
Stadium, Bridgeforth Field, Rotary Field, and tennis events at Jim
Barnett Park/Winchester Country Club. Required
SkillsQualifications: Bachelors degree required, Masters degree
preferred. Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
Demonstrated experience (typically 1-3 years) in athletic
communications, sports media and/or public relations or publicity
