Waterjet Operator (Engineering Technician II) (EPFAB-21-0720-F)

Bowhead is seeking a Waterjet Operator to support the Engineering/Prototype shop at NSWCDD (Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.)

The desired applicant is an experienced waterjet programmer/operator who has precision sheet metal bending experience using standard and CNC press brakes. The applicant should be able to read and understand DOD drawings and be able to make adjustments to hold tight tolerances on water jet cut and bent parts. The ability to use basic measuring tools such as dial calipers, protractors and micrometers is a must. Being able to use manual or CNC milling machines for secondary operations such as countersinks and tapping holes will be considered a bonus while selecting a candidate.

The ability to safely drive a forklift to load and unload materials onto a waterjet and from delivery trucks is a requirement. This requirement may be trained for while in position.

Bowhead offers:

  • Engineering Technician II pay at $25.72 per hour plus $4.22 per hour for H&W (Health and Welfare)
  • Paid vacation accrued up 15 days a year.

Requirements Must have a High School Diploma.

  • Must have at least three (3) years full-time professional experience operating a waterjet. Omax waterjet experience will be considered a bonus during applicant selection.
  • Proficient at interpreting DOD drawings.
  • Ability to draw in 2D CAD by interpreting DOD drawings.
  • Bending precision sheet metal using standard hydraulic and CNC press brakes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, customers, management and respond to instructions/assignments. Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Organizing/maintaining waterjet files within the in-house network drive.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time and be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
  • SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location. Acquiring a clearance will be done with the assistance of Bowhead upon hiring unless the candidate already possesses a clearance.
