Position Summary The Insurance Specialist will assist patients in workers compensation correspondence including obtaining authorization for treatment, reporting of claims, and completing disability forms and medical records. Primary Functions & Accountabilities Serve as a liaison of between the provider, workers comp carrier, case manager and claims adjuster Verify authorizations for treatment by the workers comp carrier Enter contacts for case manager and claims adjuster in the chart Submit daily updates of status to appropriate contacts. Obtain the appropriate authorizations for additional treatment or referrals from the doctor Respond to inquiries made by representatives from the Workers comp insurance carrier Manage all the incoming disability forms Assist patients with reviewing requirements and expectations Verify that there is a valid authorization on file for all forms Contact the patient to inform them their form has been complete Send the form in the manner requested by the patient Submit all medical records to disability carriers with valid auth on file Submit medical records to all "referred providers" Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Systems; specifically, Allscripts, Centricity, NextGen, Advantix preferred Experience with outbound business-to-business phone calls Detailed orientated required for concise, accurate, and standardized note taking (for claim notes, phone call notes, inter-office emails, etc. Excellent communication and customer service skills Excellent organizational and time management skills; Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Strong supervisory skills and ability to effectively delegate responsibility Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information Knowledge of basic office equipment, Microsoft Office, and practice management systems Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in business, health management or other related field preferred, or at least five years of experience in medical practice billing and collections with evidence of progressive responsibility Experience with practice management software and Microsoft Office skills preferred. 2+ years of experience with medical billing 2+ years current medical field experience Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: 1 - 3 years Salary: $16 - $24 Hourly Bonus/Commission: No
