Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.  POSITION SUMMARY:

Vectrus is looking for a seasoned lawyer to provide general legal support to its business throughout the world. The job will be based in Alexandria, Virginia. The primary responsibilities of this position are to: contribute value as a member of the Legal Department; provide effective legal advice, counsel and advocacy to Vectrus' business and functional areas; support Vectrus strategic and tactical legal and compliance initiatives; provide effective advice on legal considerations of Vectrus' business strategies and their implementation; and will report to the Vectrus Vice President, Deputy General Counsel-Legal Operations. The person chosen for this position will be required to provide daily advice and counsel on issues involving government contracts, general business, and domestic and international business transactions. The successful candidate must have the ability to identify critical legal issues and appropriately balance risk and business strategy. The ideal candidate must be able to convert legal recommendations to actionable advice for program and other personnel. He or she must be able to develop relationships with and influence internal and external stakeholders and will need to collaborate with peers and colleagues.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

Active support of and advice on all types of government contracts including bid and proposal advice, contract changes (requests for equitable adjustments), compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement, government contract litigation protests and disputes, teaming agreements, organizational conflict of interest issues, Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs), and the creation and implementation of firewall agreements and compliance matters, will support other business matters including program execution and performance. Will also support subcontract negotiations and support our global supply chain personnel.

Performs other duties and assignments as required, including, but not limited to implementing standards for effective legal and contract strategy, conducting legal investigations relating to government contracts, managing outside counsel, interpreting and disseminating information on proposed or actual legislation and regulations, with emphasis on government contract law and providing legal training to business leaders and professionals on government contracts topics.

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

Personal computer, printer, copy machine and other general office equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Works in a general office environment.

Domestic and overseas travel may be required.

Must be able to work extended hours, as required.

Ability to access and perform work on U.S. military facilities may be necessary.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.

At least seven years of experience with a law firm, corporation or government organization with a practice area emphasis in government contracts.

Must have experience in other specialty areas, such as commercial contracts, counseling and advice, litigation, corporate transactions, compliance programs, and international law. Experience handling privacy issues desirable.

Must be a member in good standing of a State Bar.

Must have or be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level.

Must perceive the legal function as an integral contributor to the success of the organization and be accustomed to taking the lead in devising and implementing innovative solutions to management issues. This presupposes the ability to develop an in-depth appreciation for and understanding of the essential elements of the business and the various elements that drive business activities.

Must be a self-starter and able to work semi-autonomously. Outstanding organization, client management, and written and verbal communication skills are essential. An effective team member with well-developed capabilities to influence people and delivering successful results.
