The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for
a Database Programmer/Administrator to support our government
customer located in Silver Spring, MD.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide bioinformatics support to perform knowledge engineering
functions between the IT staff and the medical research staff.
Support shall include management of information management
programs, projects, and systems; designing, developing, testing,
and documenting software, hardware, and interface requirements;
enhancing existing systems used for genotypic, phenotypic,
epidemiological, and demographic data.
Collaborate with MRSN personnel to accomplish assignments as needed
and as determined by the developmental stages of each pipeline.
Assist with the development of the MRSN Integrated Genome Handling
Tool (MIGHT), a single software package custom-designed to handle
the automated, a la carte execution of several of the CARB-MRSN
bioinformatic core analysis tools.
Assist the development of custom Python scripts for the rapid
analysis of tens to thousands bacterial genomes to include QC
thresholds, species identification, typing, cluster detection,
prediction of resistance and virulence genes, annotation, variant
analysis, and the implementation of NextFlow or similar workflow
management system.
Establish custom scripts and/or ad-hoc access to electronic data
systems (e.g., the Composite Health Care System [CHCS] and GENESIS)
to maintain and improve automated solutions for data pulls and
processing in ARMoR-D or in bioinformatic genome repository.
Provide support to the implementation, maintenance, and development
of a centralized genome and genomic data repository for the
sequenced isolates in the MRSN collection. The data repository
shall be designed to maximize accessibility and ease of use to
other MRSN personnel, leadership, and relevant partners.
Develop a custom NoSQL, document-oriented database for the storage
and query of genetic information derived from the analysis of
bacterial genomes. Advance the integration of this resource with
the corresponding repository of genomic sequences, the MIGHT
analytics workflow, and the corresponding clinical metadata in the
ARMOR-D database.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Security Plus certification
Programming abilities in other languages such as HTML, Java,
JavaScript, PHP, PERL, Rust, SQL will be required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Ability to design, install, implement, and administer SQL Server
databases and servers in the DoD environment to include MS SQL
Server 2016
Ability to implement MS SSRS systems and develop and deploy
reports.
MS SQL Server 2008 R2; with other commercial reporting and analytic
tools like Tableau, Power BI, Crystal reports, etc.; web
application development.
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must have an active Secret clearance.
