System Administrator (Active Directory)

Location: Alexandria, VA

General Job Description

The System Administrator (Active Directory) will be a member of a dynamic and high functioning team, and will be responsible for a multi-site Windows Active Directory environment, DNS, DHCP, DFS, Group Policy, and Application Servers. The System Administrator will research and recommend technical upgrades (hardware and software) to the current infrastructure, and lead the implementation projects.

The individual will work closely with the IT team to provide cross-functional maintenance and support on other technologies including Exchange and VMware. This position provides an opportunity to enhance skills by participating in upgrades of existing systems as well as researching, designing, and implementing new systems and services. Occasional evening and weekend work is required to support emergencies

Duties:

? Plan, build, upgrade and maintain Windows domain controllers / member servers

? Install, configure and provision new servers, storage and related infrastructure

? Proactively manage Windows OS and third party application security patching

? Set up, leverage, and maintain WSUS for patching and SCOM for monitoring

? Manage and maintain enterprise backups utilizing Backup Exec and Veeam to include offsite tape management

? Maintain, upgrade and support Application Servers including but not limited to: Citrix XenApp, Enterprise Listserv, Print Servers, Perforce, FlexLM License Manager, SolidWorks, and other Engineering or industry specific applications

? Create SOP's and other necessary technical documentation

? Provide tier 3 escalation support for Service Desk issues

? Participate in planning and implementing of disaster recovery processes and procedures

Qualifications: Skills

? Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Server 2003/2008+ Operating Systems

? Advanced knowledge of Windows Active Directory troubleshooting and maintenance

? Intermediate knowledge of Group Policy configuration

? Intermediate knowledge of file system/sharing including NTFS permissions and security groups

? Experience with OS, application and hardware patching (preferably using WSUS)

? Experience with Virtual Servers running in a VMware Environment

? Experience maintaining and supporting Enterprise applications running on Windows and Linux OS

? Experience with disaster recovery and continuity of operations planning and implementation

? Knowledge of industry security best practices

? Familiarity with Linux (desired)

Education & Experience

? Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline and 4 years experience or a minimum of 6 years hands on experience in systems administration and support

Certifications

Required

? Must possess or obtain within one year of employment Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)

Desired

? ITIL v3 Foundation

? CompTIA Security+
