ASEC IncDescription: Summary: The Human Resources Generalist assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties, with a focus on employee relations. The HR generalist carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training and development, recruitment, benefits, compensation, and maintaining the Human Resource Management System Software.In addition, this position will collaborate with Program Managers to develop and implement a new-employee orientation program that will provide a superior, qualified, and diverse workforce. The HR Generalist contributes to creating an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes quality, productivity, and goal attainment. In addition, he/she helps with the implementation of HR services, policies, and programs.Tasks include:

  • Hire employees and process hiring-related paperwork including conducting new employee orientations.
  • Prepare and maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
  • Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  • Address employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Assist with maintaining and updating human resources documents, such as organizational charts, employee handbooks or directories, or performance evaluation forms.
  • Assist management to implement personnel policies or procedures.
  • Assist with compensation and benefits administration and recordkeeping.
  • Assist maintaining employee files and the HR filing system.
  • Conduct exit interviews and ensure that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
  • Provide management with information or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues.
  • Analyze employment-related data and prepare required reports.
  • Assist management on organizing, preparing, or implementing recruiting or retention programs. . Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability that an individual must be able to perform satisfactorily in order to be successful at this position. Skills:
    • Excellent computer skills, including Word and Excel in a Microsoft Windows environment.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices.
    • Experience in administration of benefits and other HR programs.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Skills in database management and record keeping.
    • Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
    • Must be able to gather and analyze information skillfully.Physical Demands: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.Travel: Some travel may be expected for this position.Required Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree and one year experience in human resource, or two to three years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.Desired Experience/Certification:
    • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification and/or;
    • HRCI PHR or SPHR certification and;
    • DoD Contractor experience.
