Title: Medical Facilities Inspector State Role Title: Health Care Compliance Spec II Hiring Range: $88,000 - $97,000 Pay Band: 5 Agency: Virginia Department of Health Location: LICENSURE & CERTIFICATION OFF Agency Website: www.vdh.virginia.gov Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties The Office of Licensure and Certification (OLC) in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a full-time Medical Facilities Inspector for the Central region’s Long-Term Care Team. This position currently offers a sign-on bonus of $5,000 with a one-year written agreement for external candidates. This position is for the Long-Term Care unit and will require travel throughout Central VA: Richmond, Midlothian, Chester, Mechanicsville, Goochland, Farmville, Keysville, Warrenton, Emporia, Blackstone, Front Royal, Dillwyn, Lawrenceville, Leesburg, Gainesville, Front Royal, Aroda, Orange, Fredericksburg, Culpepper, Arlington, Potomac Falls, Berryville, Winchester, Alexandria, McLean, Ashburn, Warrenton, Woodstock, Luray, etc. The primary purpose of the Medical Facilities Inspector for the Long Term Care Team is to independently or as part of a team conducts inspections/surveys or reviews of health care facilities for the purpose of licensure and/or certification issuance, maintenance and/or renewal to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and promotion of quality health care practices. Conducts complaint investigations; compiles and evaluates information in determining degree of compliance; communicates findings orally and in writing; reviews and recommends approval, denial, or revisions to health care provider's plan; recommends plan of correction to supervisor when provider is not in compliance. May serve as information resource to health care providers. Position requires travel. Minimum Qualifications • Self-directed individual with specialized knowledge of health care systems and services, quality of care issues & health care administration • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear, concise, and legally defensible manner; ability to manage multiple assignments independently; to listen actively, share job knowledge, maintain professionalism, and follow through with requests • Ability to independently assess individual patient/resident medical care plans and outcomes, the overall quality of facility care and services, and to interpret and apply complex state/federal regulations to the findings • If working in LTC and/or Complaint unit, must obtain SMQT Certification within 12 months of hire date. All MFIs must obtain medical clearance for fit testing in accordance with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) [Ref.2] regulations within 90 days of hire date and annually with exception to Complaint Unit. Additional Considerations • Licensed registered nurse/LNHA/RAC-CT. • Knowledge of long-term care compliance regulations.
