with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Alexandria,
Virginia, 22304! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN

Shift: 12 Hours Hours per Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Experience: 1-2 Years
License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS
Must-Have: Proficiency with neuro assessments and basic cardiac
drips. Must have experience with cardizem, amiodarone, and heparin
drips. Must have experience with EPIC. Must have prior travel
experience. Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips and pass
the ECG exam. Description: Will be required to float to all
Progressive Care and Telemetry Units. Floating to other units will
be within or below scope of practice. The unit has 52 beds,
specializing in neuro care. Common diagnoses include stroke, chest
pain, arrhythmias, abdominal pain, post-surgical cases, altered
mental status, dehydration, acute kidney injury, congestive heart
failure, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, numbness, fever, sepsis, and
respiratory failure. The staff-to-patient ratio in the Progressive
Care Unit is 1:4, which may occasionally increase to 1:5. For the
Medical and Surgical units, the ratio is 1:5 but can reach 1:6 in
rare situations. Staff members are required to titrate drips as
needed. Some patient care techs may be available on the unit, with
a ratio of 1:8 to 1:11 depending on the unit. Nurses must be
familiar with equipment such as CPAP and high-flow devices and be
able to respond to situations requiring increased oxygen levels.
Travelers should expect to be flexible and may work in different
units throughout their shifts. Weekend commitment includes a
minimum of 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week period. Holiday
availability will be required based on the needs of the facility.
Nurses will receive 3 shifts of orientation on different units.
Self-scheduling is permitted with flexibility in work assignments.
