Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for night shifts, requiring ventilator experience and a VA or compact RN license. Responsibilities - Work in the adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with a patient population including cardiac arrest, COVID-positive patients, CVAs, nonthreatening bleeds, and sepsis - 12-bed ICU with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 - Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 12 hours per shift - Self-scheduling and block scheduling available in 6-week increments - Required to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) - Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday - May float to PCU, 6B, and medical boarder units as needed - RNs must titrate drips and manage ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow oxygen - No on-call or standby requirements - Scrub color is navy blue - Care for critically ill adults including patients with cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and infectious conditions - Must be capable of independently titrating drips, troubleshooting ventilators, and interpreting cardiac rhythms - Support provided by clinical technicians for vital signs, EKG, IV starts, and basic care - Charge Nurse or RN Unit Supervisor present on each shift, charge nurse does not carry a patient assignment unless necessary - RT present 24/7 for respiratory support; nurses must be able to troubleshoot respiratory equipment - Three-shift orientation with a preceptor provided - No monitor techs for ICU patients—nurses are responsible for interpreting EKG strips Requirements - Active VA or compact RN license required - At least 2 years of ICU experience with some stepdown experience - Current BLS and ACLS certifications required - NIHSS, CRRT, and CCRN certifications preferred but not required - Ability to titrate IV drips and manage advanced airways - Experience with EKG interpretation required - Physical ability to manage critical care responsibilities Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-626772.
