Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years of ICU experience required License: Valid state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Telemetry skills - Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Management of chronic and acute renal failure - IV therapy skills including IV insulin protocols, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central and PICC line management - Starting IVs, continuous IV sedation, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips Description: The Registered Nurse will be responsible for patient care in the ICU setting. The nurse will manage critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical needs. The nurse will provide telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias. Management of chronic and acute renal failure will be part of the role. The nurse will need to administer IV therapies according to protocols. Coordination of blood product administration is essential. The nurse will ensure proper care for central and PICC line management. Emergency medication administration and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips are required skills. Strong neurological assessment skills are necessary for CVA and acute stroke management. Respiratory management skills will include assistance with BiPAP and CPAP. The nurse will assist with chest tube insertion and removal. Care of ventilated patients and interpreting arterial blood gases is part of the role. Suctioning of endotracheal tubes and non-invasive techniques is required. The nurse will work effectively within a collaborative healthcare team. The role requires flexibility for weekend and holiday coverage as needed. Call coverage may be required on a rotating basis. This position involves floating to various departments as necessary. The facility operates as a short-term acute care facility with a patient-centered approach. The total number of staffed beds is 197. Scrubs are required to be provided by the staff and must be in a specific color. Charting will be conducted using an electronic health record system. No fees will be associated with parking for staff.
