Inova Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Labor and
Delivery for a nursing job in Alexandria, Virginia.Job Description
& Requirements
Schedule: full-time, night shift with 3 x 12 hour shifts per week
from 7:00pm to 7:00am
Sign-On/Relocation Bonus Information: This position is eligible for
a competitive Sign-On Bonus. Candidates who are relocating 50 miles
or further are also eligible for relocation assistance.
Inova Alexandria Labor and Delivery is a 13-bed unit, complimented
by 3 operating suites, 4 PACU beds, and 4 Clinical Decision beds.
Approximately, 3,600 deliveries take place each year, including
deliveries for high-risk obstetric patients. In our Clinical
Decision Unit (Labor and Delivery Triage), we can care for as many
as 450 patients a month. The L&D Unit delivers approximately 10
to 15 babies each day.
Nurse to Patient Ratios:
2:1 during early stages of labor
1:1 once patient is active and begins pushing
1:1 for all C-sections, epidural placements, TOLAC and fetal
demises.
1:1 or up to 3:1 for antepartum patients, depending on level of
acuity.

Requirements:
Required Experience: A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse
clinical experience in the acute care setting. 2+ years of L&D
experience is strongly preferred.
General Requirements:
- Proficient in English, strong verbal, and written communication
skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a
caring demeanor towards others

- Proficient computer skills required
Minimum Education Requirement: Education: BSN from an accredited
school of nursing. If RN has an Associate's Degree (ADN); must
complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
Minimum Licensure/ Certification Requirement:
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia
or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the
Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
from the American Heart Association required upon start
