Job Summary:

To support the Clinical Coordinator in providing high quality customer service for both internal and external customers. The scope of practice of the Lead Cardiology Nurse occurs within the framework of the nursing process and encompasses those nursing functions that assist the members as well as support all procedures in the Cardiology department. Nursing functions are directed toward providing continuity of care for the cardiology patients.
Essential Responsibilities:

• Provides direct patient care, provider and departmental support as outlined in the Cardiology Nurse job description.
• Follows established Cardiology protocols to maintain a clean and safe.
• Coordinates patient care for hospital admission, specialty referral, IV Care Urgent Care and ancillary support departments.
• Makes monthly staffing schedules and day-to day work assignment.
• Assesses workload through the workday to distribute work assignments.
• Monitors staffing and calls in staff to meet minimum staffing requirements, including authorizing overtime, coordinating with other clinical teams to cover staff shortages and processes provider schedule changes as delegated by Clinical Coordinator.
• Handles internal and external customer issues and alerts Clinical Coordinator to difficult problems.
• Serves as resource for other staff members by answering questions; orients new staff, and identifies staff needs for training (and provides in-service training as needed).
• Performs special projects as assigned by Clinical Coordinator.
• Provides feedback to Clinical Coordinator on staff performance.
• Assist with development and revision of departmental policies and procedures as delegated by the Clinical Coordinator.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

  Basic Qualifications:

  Experience
  • Minimum two (2) years of current cardiology experience with at least one (1) year in cardiology inpatient or ambulatory environment required.

    Education
    • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required.

      License, Certification, Registration
      • This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required before hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire.
        
        • Registered Nurse License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire

          • Compact License: Registered Nurse within 6 months of hire
            
            • Registered Nurse License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire
              
              • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
                
                • Basic Life Support

                  Additional Requirements:
                  • Current experience administering intravenous infusion required.
                  • Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
                  • Demonstrated effective communication skills are required.
                  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical systems and processes is required.

                    Preferred Qualifications:
                    • Previous experience in a leadership role preferred.
                    • BSN preferred.
