Job SummaryThe Pulmonary and Cardiac Rehabilitation Clinical
Exercise Physiologist develops complex exercise prescriptions and
assesses the effectiveness and responses to interventions and
documents according to established standards. The Clinical Exercise
Physiologist must quickly and effectively respond to medical
emergencies in a clinic setting and is required to assist with
scheduling, clinic clerical tasks, and quality improvement
activities.Minimum QualificationsBachelors Degree in Exercise
Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related degree.ACSM
Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist; AACVPR Certified Cardiac
Rehabilitation Professional; or ASEP Exercise Physiologist
Certified required within twelve (12) months of employment and
maintained throughout employment.BLS and ACLS Certification to be
completed in introductory period and maintained throughout
employment.Preferred QualificationsMinimum 6 months experience in a
healthcare environmentPulmonary/Cardiac rehabilitation experience
preferred.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesContributes to the
achievement of established department goals and objectives and
adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and
safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation
regulations.Seeks out continuing education opportunities that
assist in developing programs in the center and shares
knowledge/skills with other staff and students. Participates in
hospital/department committees as assigned.Assesses the physical,
psychosocial, spiritual & cultural dimensions of the
pulmonary/cardiac rehab participant as well as educational needs
and appropriately documents.Monitors participants and reports any
inappropriate response to exercise. Demonstrates competence in
tele-monitoring, EKG interpretation and blood pressure monitoring.
Documents initial and daily assessments within established
timeframes; contributes to the ITP; records and reports on
identified outcome measures. Reviews participant's ongoing progress
with the team.Employs principles of therapeutic communication,
interviewing techniques, problem-solving and crisis intervention
when performing patient care.Provides participant and caregiver
education related to home exercises, nutrition and use of
equipment.Assists with emergency care. Checks emergency supplies
and equipment for proper function and supplies on a regular
basis.Facilitates patient/family, physician and staff safety and
satisfaction, collaborating with the Clinical Lead and the
Department Director.Communicates effectively with other health care
providers. Handles stressful situations with tact and
poise.Performs other duties as assigned.
