We are currently recruiting for a experienced and savvy training professional to lead the efforts in creating an optimal experience for internal and external audiences.

Summary of Position: Under the direction of the Chief, Military Programs and Strategy, the Director of Training works to facilitate cross departmental training and learning, assists in developing and facilitating new employee onboarding and training activities, oversees all initial workforce learning, and provides re-training as required. They will create, distribute, and analyze findings from needs assessments to develop and implement a comprehensive annual unit training plan, and assist with monthly reporting requirements.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, develops, and maintains all training materials across the Military Programs Unit.
  • Utilizes generalized training competencies to assess capabilities of new staff.
  • Develop and maintain a standardized training curriculum for all new staff across the Unit.
  • Design and implement annual military program training plan to include training goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of newly hired staff, veteran staff, and staff in transition (upward mobility/recently promoted).
  • Develops coordinated unit-wide training calendar.
  • Provide feedback on training needs to improve performance as determined by Performance Improvement Plans and Individual Development Plans. Ensure plans have specific achievable goals that can be met within a realistic timeframe.
  • Provides input on the Operations Plan related to training requirements as required and develops training/learning budget to submit to Chief.
  • Attends cross-departmental staff meetings.
  • Attends team meetings as required, and maintains cross functional communication to facilitate the collection, organization, and timely distribution of training materials due to any operational changes reported.
  • Ensure staff competency on training curriculum, and retrain staff as needed.
  • Conducts quarterly analysis of error reports to develop and provide real-time retraining materials to minimize operational errors as required.
  • Assist with special projects and other functions as needed to accomplish Child Care Aware - of America's mission and objectives.
  • Maintains knowledge of contact/call center operations and fee assistance program policies and procedures, and familiarity with all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the military department. Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of higher education and experience required. Minimum five years related organizational training experience.
    • Proven experience providing customer service to diverse populations. Experience Coaching and mentoring a plus.
    • Expertise in designing, implementing, and analyzing adult learning content.
    • Exceptional group facilitation skills.
      • Experience in content development, Learning Management System (LMS), competency-based education and various training platforms.
      • Ability to collect, analyze, and present information for diverse audiences.
        • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
        • Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven ability to maintain respectful, effective professional working relationships at all levels of management.
        • Maintain high-ethical standards including maintaining strict confidentiality.
          • Excellent computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products, knowledge of database management desired.
            • Highly collaborative with ability to work individually and as a part of a team to meet program objectives.
              • Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making skills with ability to maintain calm in high pressure situations.
              • Strong organizational, time management, and troubleshooting skills.

                Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

                • Managing a large remote call center or similar business entity
                • Experience and knowledge of fee assistance program policies and procedures
                • Familiarity with all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the military department
                • Strong customer service training methodologies
                • Experience creating and implementing training programs
                • Must have a minimum of five years of related organizational training experience
