Director, Sustainability Codes and Standards

Come join a team of professionals to help the concrete industry meet its goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
Advocate for concrete in national, state and local green building codes and standards to ensure a pathway for the adoption of innovative products that help reduce concrete's environmental impacts.
Provide technical support to NRMCA members and state affiliates regarding green building codes and standards including LEED, Green Globes, and the International Green Construction Code.
Be a valuable resource for NRMCA members and state affiliates to promote and develop amendments to state building codes that support concrete construction.
Interface with national staff to develop strategies for adopting federal legislation and regulations that would help the concrete industry meet its carbon neutrality goal.
Oversee and promote NRMCA's Environmental Production Declaration (EPD) and Responsible Sourcing Certification programs.
Explore and implement an NRMCA Health Production Declaration (HPD) Program.
Educate members, state affiliates, design professionals, contractors and policymakers on green building practices and concrete's contribution to lowering environmental impacts of the built environment.
Leverage relationships to influence model building codes and other codes and standards committees.
The successful candidate will:


  • Make strategic decisions and judgments.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Gather and analyze data and generate reports.
  • Create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Analyze and solve problems.
  • Collaborate with internal team members and external partners.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to target audiences.
  • Cultivate relationships with design, build and policy allies.
  • Use tools such as office productivity software.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, environmental science, or related field.
    • Advanced degree a plus.
    • Minimum 5 years' experience working with green building standards.
    • Working knowledge of environmental life cycle assessment a plus
    • Working knowledge of energy analysis a plus.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • Position requires significant travel (25%)
      • Work from home office located reasonably close to a major airport in the United States.
