Job Description:
The Project Manager WS 3 is the business manager of a complex
project or multiple construction projects which may be bid-build,
design-build, or CMAR in nature
- In partnership with Production Managers on the project(s),
assumes full responsibility for the on-time completion of the
project(s)t within the final project budget and schedule while
maintaining the Company's high standards of safety, quality,
customer satisfaction and employee growth
- With the assistance of the Production Managers, leads the
initial preconstruction planning and CPM efforts prior to
mobilization
- Once in the field, is responsible for maintaining and updating
a detailed project CPM, all major purchasing, subcontracting, and
project business management while providing leadership and
oversight to the project construction efforts
- Meets project safety, quality and profit goals
- Works to ensure GCC has strong crew/teams at all levels of the
project and promotes and champions the company's vision to Lead the
Way in Safety, Quality, Innovation, and Efficiency
- Leads by example, always professional and in line with the
company's values of Fair and Ethical Success.Works with Production
Managers and Project Engineers to ensure that field teams have a
detailed, engineered plan of work for each daily operation and that
plans are safely executed and meet or exceed 100% percent plan
complete (PPC)
- Through the Project Engineer and Production Managers, verifies
all quantities are correct at the end-of-shift
- Reviews end-of-shift results, on a daily basis with Production
Managers, and makes adjustments as needed to achieve labor manhour
and equipment hour targets as well as cost budgets
- If PPC is not achieved, works with internal project team
members and identifies challenges and solutions to achieve or
exceed 100% PPC
- Leads a month-end review of each phase of work on the project
to ensure quantities are correct, align with customer records, and
meet estimate requirements
- Completes month-end project projections and submits to senior
management for approval.Participates in the project risk assessment
process during the procurement process
- Leads internal partners to carry this forward through a monthly
assessment of project risk factors relative to safety, quality,
innovation & workforce, and productivity & efficiency
- Identifies and deploys opportunities to mitigate or eliminate
risks; monitors and track progress and trends; adjusts as
needed
- From a safety perspective, leads the project team to identify,
minimize, and eliminate risks associated with project
activities
- Works with project teams to establish project safety goals;
leads the effort to achieve and celebrate safety goals
- Has an excellent understanding of OSHA and company safety
requirements
- Has a valid drivers' license and is approved to drive company
vehicles.The Project Manager WS 3 has an excellent understanding
and thorough knowledge of construction methods and procedures
- Reviews, understands and communicates project plans and
specifications to the project team
- Ensures project is constructed and paid for according to plans
and specifications
- Ensures pay estimates are submitted in a timely manner and paid
accordingly
- Has a thorough knowledge of estimating and effectively prices
and negotiates change orders using the GCC Change Order SOP
- Accurately estimates cost to complete each month and submits to
Senior Management for approval.The Project Manager WS 3 has a
in-depth and thorough knowledge of project planning,
administration, reporting and forecasting
- Effectively and efficiently utilizes computer software
including Oracle Primavera for scheduling, Oracle Prime for
planning, HCSS Heavy Bid, Viewpoint, and Pvault
- Has basic knowledge of Microsoft Applications (i.e.: Excel,
Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams)
- Makes presentations to senior management and customers on
project status and progress as needed.The Project Manager WS 3 will
be a student and a teacher
- Seeks knowledge, with a culture of continual learning, though
all available sources, including industry and professional
associations
- Serves as a mentor and coach to other team members.Has a
thorough understanding of and leads the team in the GCC Performance
Management processes
- Works toward continual improvement and development of
themselves and all team members
- Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data
requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors
- Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and
policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion
for obtaining results
- Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving
problems.
Physical Requirements:Prolonged driving on a regular basis. Lift up
to 25 lbs. regularly, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Ability to
work in extreme weather conditions (heat and cold).Education
Guidelines:4-year degree in civil engineering, construction
management discipline, or related field or equivalent combination
of education and experience.Experience Guidelines:8+ years
construction experience, 5+ years in a project leadership role, and
3+ years supervisory experience.Knowledge Guidelines:Must possess a
valid drivers' license and be approved to drive company vehicles.
Excellent knowledge of estimating. Basic knowledge of computer
software programs, including Primavera, Viewpoint, and Pvault.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Applications (i.e.: Excel, Word, and
Outlook) is required.
