We're looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.The Senior Director, Patient Advocacy will be an integral member of the Prevail patient advocacy team providing tactical and strategic contributions to the organization. This person will report to the Chief Medical Officer and work cross-functionally with multiple Prevail teams as well as external patient advocacy organizations to support patient community engagement, gene therapy education, genetic testing awareness, and ensuring the patient perspective is incorporated and championed in Prevail's research and development programs. -We are looking for a team member who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, has excellent communication skills, and can span multiple disease areas. - In this role, you will have exposure to senior management, colleagues at our parent company, Eli Lilly, and will be influential in helping to develop a patient-directed culture.Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary relationship manager for key disease-specific and rare disease umbrella advocacy groups and act as a Prevail ambassador with external patient groups, patient advocates, families/patients, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate existing relationships with the advocacy community and seek new partnering opportunities in relevant disease areas ensuring strong collaborations with patient advocacy groups. -
  • Develop consistent patient community communication channels to ensure direct, credible and consistent sharing of information with patient advocacy groups. Leverage insights learned from the patient community to bring the patient perspective to Prevail's project teams and decision-making and serve as a champion for patient and caregiver needs within Prevail.
    • Develop and execute strategies to address disease-specific challenges, increase disease awareness, decrease time to diagnosis and genotyping, and increase access to clinical trial and therapy information, customized for unique challenges and opportunities in the gene therapy space.
    • Support the execution of patient related activities such as advisory board and patient speakers and conduct market research as needed to gain the patient and family point of view into specific disease areas.
    • Manage key internal employee education and engagement events such as Rare Disease Day and other awareness days to help bring the patient community perspective to the broader Prevail team.
    • Proactively drive internal communication with regular updates and forums to share Prevail's work in the patient communities and advocacy initiatives.
    • Develop and maintain community engagement strategies and tactics that may include educational programs, disease awareness initiatives, patient speaker engagement, social media engagement, clinical trial awareness, and patient-focused websites.
    • Manage functional charitable contributions and sponsorships and strategically fund programs and activities that support patient engagement and disease state education aligned with Prevail's therapeutic areas of interest.
    • Lead functional operations including activities related to external events and conference participation including materials and attendance coordination and internal operational matters such as review and approval of communications.Requirements:
      • Minimum 5 years of experience working in industry (pharma/biotech) and/or a patient-focused non-profit organization; prior patient advocacy experience required
      • Undergraduate degree required; Master's Degree in related field (genetic counseling, public health) preferred but not requiredAdditional Skills/Preferences:
        • Strong track record of developing and supporting successful patient advocacy strategies and communications with excellent written and oral communication skills
        • Ability to be a company ambassador with high emotional intelligence and empathy required
        • Experience in gene therapy and/or rare diseases preferred
        • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel
        • Ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external vendors
        • Understanding of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements and guidelines
        • Strong business acumen with an ability to understand key clinical, scientific, and business information and relay it to stakeholders in an authentic way
        • Proven ability to build consensus and influence without authority within an organization and with external stakeholdersAdditional Information:
          • Position Location: New York City, Prevail Therapeutics a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly.

          • Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $138,750 to $203,500 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate's qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).Of course, the compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
