OverviewThe incumbent will act as a liaison to all hospital departments. The goal of the Materials Management departments is to provide excellent customer service. - Monitors and oversees all daily activities related to par level stocking, supply requisitioning, specialty cart replenishment, case cart preparation, shipping and receiving and off-site deliveries. - Supervises and direct daily work flow.At Novant Health, one of our core values is diversity and inclusion.   • Education: -4 Year / Bachelors DegreePreferred2 Year / Associate DegreeRequiredBusiness and/or health services training
  • Experience: -5 yearsRequiredExperience in hospital Materials Management preferred. Will consider equivalent experience in other fields, including distribution services operations.
  • Additional skills required: - - - Additional Skills/Requirements (required) - - Structures, staffs and leads the Hospital supply operations organization at Prince William Medical Center--with oversight responsibility and rotational staffing at Haymarket and Culpeper--to meet the business and clinical needs and to deliver the supply objectives. - - Working with the Manager of Materials Management Operations, the Assistant Manager oversees and works with the Leads for code carts, training, quality, and other department initiatives - - Works with the materials supervisors to balance work within and across hospitals to achieve the most cost effective, value-added supply function. - - Acts as the key interface between the supply organization and the business unit and Hospital operating leadership - - Ensures connectivity between the measured supply results and the business operating results - - Ability to lead, direct and instruct others in a professional manner. - - Ability to organize, prioritize and adapt to changing situations. - - Possess good numerical and clerical abilities - - Good manual dexterity - - Good critical thinking skills and decision-making skills - - A supportive and cooperative attitude is essential and a willingness to provide a team environment.
  • Additional skills preferred: - - - Requires prolonged standing, manual dexterity, pushing, pulling bending stretching and stooping - - Requires working shifts that meet the departments needs. Working weekend/holidays as well as overtime as needed. May require weekend or evening calls. - - Good hearing and visual acuity - - Ability to work in a stressful environment resulting from customer demands - - Ability to work prolonged periods of time inputting computer data using repetitious hand movements - - Provides communication, positive reinforcement and feedback to staff through various means including regular staff meetings. - - Practices effective interpersonal communication skills. Possesses good verbal and written communication skills in a positive and diplomatic manner. - - Performs all computer functions related to ERP, handhelds and other computer systems within - - Materials Management. - - Provides excellent customer service relating to customers inquiries, purchase orders, invoice resolution and par levels. - - Performs functions of Materials Management Coordinator when needed - - Assists in cost containment efforts utilizing resources wisely - - Adheres to all department, hospital and Corporate policies and procedures - - Maintains competency according to department policies, procedures and protocolsEssential Functions: - - Act independently in resolving tactical issues within area of responsibility. - - Develops tactical plans in coordination with the Senior Manager of Materials and business leadership. - - Demonstrates strong interpersonal and leadership skills to motivate, negotiate, influence, persuade and obtain cooperation of other disciplines in the unit (including the supply, clinical, engineering, maintenance, IT, financial, and hospital organizations) to achieve the business objectives - - Achieves cost savings and process improvement, which is highly dependent upon interpersonal skills and the ability to jointly work with stakeholders through UVACH - - Plays a key role in supporting the recruiting, hiring, development and training of supply professionals in the organization - - Performs all staffing functions to include work schedules, daily work assignments, verification of time sheets and PTO approval of staff - - Demonstrates management skills and a level of professionalism with staff and customers at all times. Highly organized with ability to make sound decisions. - - Provides daily personnel management to include employee evaluations, counseling and competencies.
