Job Description:

Responsibilities: Hardware Design Lead supporting Rapid Engineering and Prototyping operations. Hardware could include metallic, non-metallic and composite components. The engineer will have responsibility for creating detailed part, assembly, and installation drawings. The engineer will also be responsible for the creation, review and release of technical documentation and support technical reviews. Support the technical development of assigned projects. Responsibilities may include designing, testing, and integration. Manage and execute on design tasks from initiation to product delivery and integration. Understand, plan, and execute technical activities in accordance with policies, procedures, and work instructions and Customer requirements. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and schematics. Originate specifications, control documents, verification and validation plans, procedures, reports, or other documentation in support of design and development activities. Work with other Engineers to implement operating procedures, resolve system issues and provide technical information. Prepare material for, and conduct, periodic design reviews. Ensure conformance of products with engineering design and performance specifications. Execute engineering design and development activities consistent with Customer quality, cost, and schedule requirements. Conduct research that test and analyze the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems. Solidworks and Solidworks Simulation, including working with large assemblies. Mechanical Drafting including expertise with assembly drawings and detail part drawings. Design for manufacturing. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Designing for loads and environments. Familiarity with structural design standards and Analysis. Model based machining standards. Sheet metal part design and Configuration management (PDM, PLM). Education: MS or MA degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Logistics, Science or a "Relevant Technical Discipline." Allowable Substitution: A BS or BA degree from an accredited university in engineering or technical discipline related field and an additional four (4) years of engineering experience can be substituted for an MS or MA degree. Experience: At least ten (10) years of experience in an engineering position, three (3) of which must be directly related to DOD systems. Demonstrated knowledge in area of engineering expertise. Desire experience with Solid Works, Additive Manufacturing, and/or Finite Element Analysis (FEA), including developing qualification by simulation/analysis reports. Other: Must have an Active Secret Security Clearance.
