Distribution Field Technician who is passionate about electric
utility design engineering . We're looking for someone who is

variety of areas, including NESC, Structural Pole Modeling,
Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design training, Project and
Financial Management, and Client Design Standards. Your greatest
work is ahead! The successful candidate will travel around to
collect GIS data, field measurements, and photos of utility poles.
These poles have been identified by our client’s customers for new
communications attachments, in which our field engineers will
document these locations and collect the necessary data for Leidos
designers to design solutions and fixes. This position requires
basic understanding of distribution systems, NESC standards, and
may require in-field design & engineering, as well as the ability
to think critically to determine when additional data should be
collected. The candidate will use a hasting stick or other
measuring technologies to measure pole attachment heights &
utility-owned distribution lines/attachments. Field data will be
collected using Leidos proprietary software to update utilities GIS
and make design determinations. Team member may need to keep rental
car overnight or for extended periods. In general, travel will be
limited on most weeks, but overnight stays are required depending
on the workload. Technicians are expected to meet the goals /
expectations set on a weekly basis by their supervisor and
communicate their status / progress effectively. Significant
walking is required; 90-95% of this position requires field related
work. Candidate will be required to be outside year-round and every
week as weather and personal safety permit and could be subject to
inspection of poles in the following areas; urban, rural, backyard
pole lines, private properties, and Transmission and Distribution
Right of Ways. Work locations assigned vary weekly. If the work
locations are long distances from the candidate’s home, hotels can
be provided. Candidate can get a rental truck/SUV paid for by
Leidos Hours are flexible based on need dates of inspections.
Candidate will be responsible for following Leidos safety
procedures and reporting progress daily. Additional benefits that

Hours. Many Technicians opt to work 9.5-10 hour days with short
Fridays Meals will be expensed or supplemented by Per-Diem while
staying overnight in hotels Field Engineering Tech qualifications:
4 year degree is preferred. Additional experience will be
considered in lieu of a degree. Preferred candidate would possess
experience within the power distribution field and/or an AS/BS in
engineering (or related STEM Field) Preferred candidate would
possess experience in GIS with knowledge of Esri products or other
GIS data collection software The ideal candidate has prior
experience doing field work and distribution component
identification. Candidates must be able to work in both team and
independent environments and to organize work to meet deadlines
Knowledge of NESC Standards and Client Standards is helpful.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required
Ability to learn and use Apple products Excellent verbal and
written communications skills Willingness to perform both field and
office work. Ability to work long days in outdoor environments
Valid Driver’s License and ability to utilize cell phone and 8MP

Range $35,100.00 - $63,450.00 The Leidos pay range for this job
level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of
compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending

job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as
well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable
