Overview The Staff Support Officer (SSO) delivers technical,
analytical, and financial expertise in support of Army G-8
leadership. This position is responsible for evaluating and
interpreting JCIDS and acquisition documents, preparing senior
leaders for decision forums, and formulating recommendations on
force development and modernization initiatives. The SSO applies
business intelligence tools, extracts and manages data from Army
resource systems, and produces executive-level briefings to enable
portfolio analysis, budget deliberations, and modernization
planning for Engineer, Military Police, Explosive Ordnance
Disposal, and CBRN programs. Essential Job Function 1. Requirements
and Acquisition Analysis Interpret and apply JCIDS (AR 71-9, CJCSI
3170.01) and Defense Acquisition System (DoDI 5000.2) processes.
Review and analyze JCIDS, acquisition, and modernization documents
for Army and Joint requirements boards (AROC, JROC, JCB, FCB,
etc.). Validate and provide recommendations on requirements
documents (ICDs, CDDs, A-CDDs, updates, ONS, BOIPs). 2. Program and
Portfolio Management Support development of investment strategies,
funding options, and POM/PPBE/SPAR inputs. Assist in program
planning, programming, and budgeting, including AAO/APO validation
and funding prioritization (RDT&E, procurement). Monitor
execution, production schedules, allocation plans, and
redistribution planning with ASC (LMI) and PMs. 3. Data and
Business Intelligence Extract and analyze data from Army resource
and equipping systems (AE2S-M, CAMS, cQUIP, AESIP, ECOP, FMSWeb,
cPROBE). Build and deploy BI tools and automation solutions
(SharePoint, Power BI, Power Apps, MS 365) to streamline processes
and reporting. 4. Force Development and Modernization Support
Provide analysis, options, and recommendations to support
capability development, modernization strategies, and operational
needs. Participate in Total Army Analysis (TAA), Force Feasibility
Reviews (FFR), and other force structure/resource planning efforts.
Track modernization priorities (ReARMM, MDO, AimPoint, NDS) and
integrate them into equipping and resourcing strategies. 5.
Stakeholder Coordination and Decision Support Prepare leadership
(Division, Directorate, DCS G-8) for boards, councils, and
briefings. Coordinate with Army Staff, ASA(ALT), ACOMs, and Joint
stakeholders on requirements, equipping, and modernization issues.
Provide timely assessments and responses to RFIs, taskers, and
senior leader inquiries (including within four-hour timelines when
required). 6. Communication, Documentation, and Reporting Develop
briefing materials, information papers, EXSUMs, funding
justifications, and program documentation. Support Army and Joint
budget reviews (APBBs, HAC-D, SAC-D, HASC, SASC). Maintain
situational awareness of assigned programs and provide rapid
updates, reports, and smart books. 7. Subject Matter Expertise
Provide SME input on mobility, force protection, CBRN, MP, EOD, and
engineer equipment programs. Support program reviews, risk
assessments, and resolution of shortfalls. Advise on doctrine,
training, sustainment, and operational impacts of program
decisions. 8. Special Projects and Ad Hoc Support Conduct special
studies and projects at the direction of division leadership.
Develop mitigation options, implementation plans, and executive
summaries for emerging requirements. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business or Engineering field A
minimum of four (4) years of experience and expertise in Force
Development duties Secret Clearance required Demonstrate an
understanding and tactical and operational experience in Army units
with the following types of equipment: Engineer (Tactical Bridging,
Construction, Mines and Munitions, Counter Explosive Hazard,
Engineer Support Construction, Engineer Command and Control,
Sets/Kits/Outfits), Military Police (MP), Explosive Ordnance
Disposal (EOD), and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear
(CBRN). Interdisciplinary skill set of PPBE, DOD acquisition
processes and procedures (DoDI 5000.2) as well as expertise with
materiel and /or force structure requirements development and
validation (JCIDS). Desired Qualifications Understanding and/or
completion of the following HTAR; RQM 1010/ CLR 101; RQM 1100
series / RQM 110; RQM 3100/310; CLR 151; RQM 2500/CLR 250; RQM
2520/CLR 252; Certified in related field. STI-TEC offers a
