Overview
This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.
This position will be in support of projects supported by NAWCAD's Applied Aerodynamics Branch. These projects include Future Naval Capabilities e.g. Dynamic Interface Virtual Environment (DIVE), NISE, and other SBIR projects supported by NAWCAD engineering departments that require the development of truth data to support validation of modeling and simulation.
Responsibilities
Major Job Activities:

• 
  
• 
  Coordinate, Setup, and Support execution of Wind Tunnel Tests
  
  
• 
  Download and Evaluate Wind Tunnel Test Data
  
  
• 
  Coordinate, Setup, and Support execution of Shipboard / Flight Testing
  
  
• 
  Download and Evaluate Shipboard / Flight Test Data
  
  
• 
  Document test results in Reports and Conference Papers
  
  
  Material & Equipment Directly Used:
  
  • 
    
  • 
    Instrumentation equipment used for wind tunnel testing and monitoring flight testing.
    
    
  • 
    Software applications such as MATLAB for the purposes of data reduction.
    
    
  • 
    MS Office Software, MS Project, Adobe are required software tools.
    
    
    Working Environment:
    
    • 
      
    • 
      Work is primarily conducted in an office environment at the customer facility.
      
      
    • 
      Additional work locations would include laboratory facilities for wind tunnel testing at various locations; shipboard locations for conducting onboard testing; airfield locations for the purposes of collecting data via instrumentation systems; and attending professional conferences for the purposes of reviewing and presenting papers.
      
      
      Physical Activities:

      • 
        Physical activities are primarily associated with an office environment.
        
        
      • 
        Test site (ground and shipboard) physical activities would include lifting / moving test equipment (50 lb) and working on instrumentation using lifts and ladders to access above-ground level equipment.
        
        
        Qualifications
        Minimum Qualifications:
        
        • 
          
        • 
          BS in Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering
          
          
        • 
          MS in Engineering Related Field
          
          
          One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education.
          Education / Certifications:
          
          • 
            
          • 
            10 Years Experience with wind tunnel and shipboard/flight testing, data analyses, and reporting for the purposes of validating models and simulation
            
            
          • 
            10 Years Experience with the analyses of rotary wing flight dynamics and rotor system characteristics.
            
            
            Experience / Skills:
            
            • 
              
            • 
              Data Reduction Software, including MatLab
              
              
            • 
              MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project; Adobe
