Position Summary

  • Main responsibilities will focus on research and development, designing chemical production processes, testing production techniques and materials.
  • Responsible for managing production / lab facilities, conducting technical audits and inspections, overseeing quality assurance and coordinating the management and disposal of chemical waste.
  • Involved in the research, development and implementation of chemical processes required to produce a variety of oxidizer-based products.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Testing new production and engineering processes and equipment
    • Collecting data required to make improvements and modifications
    • Purchasing and installing equipment
    • Using scientific principles related to magnitude, momentum, heat transfer, reactive chemistry, etc.
    • Perform basic chemical engineering calculations that support process design, equipment configuration and process condition establishment decisions.
    • Using and developing process simulation software to work out the best production methods
    • Conducts site visits and analysis of any external suppliers who do chemical blending or production.
    • Oversees chemical production and packaging
    • Prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other technical documentation, and provide training staff for safe and effective chemical production.
    • Investigating and troubleshooting plant/process problems
    • Scheduling and coordinating work to tight deadlines and within financial budgets
    • Ensuring safe working conditions and compliance with health and safety legislation and employ industrial risk mitigation strategies
    • Making sure all chemical engineering activities comply with health, safety and environmental regulations
    • Work with and manage external partners as needed facilitate the transition of technical know-how
    • Complete special projects as assigned
    • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others
    • Comply with the basic philosophy of helping the company to maintain a "continual improvement" culture.
    • Ensure compliance of all relevant procedures with ISO 9001 and ITAR requirements.
      REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION, TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
      • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, Master's Degree Preferred
      • 5+ years of experience in chemical process design and validation
      • Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosive (CBRNE) experience preferred
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Must be able to plan, prioritize, and juggle multiple projects at the same time
      • Commercial awareness of reactive chemistry products
      • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, driven environment
