The Richard A. Henson Center invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, contractual, non-exempt staff position with limited benefits. The position will provide office support to the Acting General Manager. Salary Range - $31,953- $43,137.

Employees are representatives of the Richard A. Henson Center and University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) and are always expected to conduct themselves appropriately. The Office Clerk will be responsible for assisting guests with all stages of their stay. Employees are expected to follow the directives of their supervisor/manager and be flexible in job assignments.


  • Maintain proper inventory levels for hotel operation.
  • Assist management with the day-to-day operations.
  • Receive and resolve guest complaints.
  • Assist management with planning, implementing, and executing special events and promotions.
  • Assist with set-up & breakdown of equipment and furniture when needed (i.e. moving tables, chairs and projector screens).
  • Issue Parking permits.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the front desk and lobby area.
  • Keep record of occupied rooms and guest accounts.
  • Work closely with housekeepers to keep room status reports up to date and coordinates request for maintenance and repair work.
  • May be required to lift up to 25 lbs., bend, and raise arms above head frequently when operating the projector and/or other equipment as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

    Required Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • One-year clerical work.

      Preferred Qualifications

      Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
      • Must have excellent communication to include written communication skills.
      • Ability to perform essential duties with a professional degree of competency.
      • Must have excellent planning, organization, conflict resolution, and time management skills.
      • Must have computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft applications
      • Must have the ability to use web-based applications
