Job Description:

Major Duties and Responsibilities:* Greets all patients, visitors, family members, physicians, and Associates in a courteous and professional manner. Addresses customers' needs efficiently, effectively, and confidentially. Provide physical assistance if necessary and assists patient in completing required paperwork.* Answers telephones courteously and professionally by the third ring. Screens and transfers telephone calls or takes messages as appropriate to facilitate effective Radiology communications. Delivers messages in a timely manner.* Responds to all requests for X-rays & CDs, reports, patient files, assistance, or information efficiently, effectively, and confidentially.* Maintains an organized and efficient outpatient radiology reception area. Monitors patient schedules, workflow, and activities of all outpatient radiology sub-sections to assure a smooth and coordinated traffic flow. Assures that patients, family members, and associates are kept informed of activities and delays. Provides ongoing follow-up regarding patient delays for patients who have waited more than twenty (20) minutes past their scheduled exam times.* Creates an atmosphere that promotes customer service excellence. Resolves or escalates customer complaints in a timely manner. Employs radiology 's customer service recovery program when customer service failures occur.* Performs routine but essential clerical and support functions to ensure smooth and effective day-to-day operations of the facility. Copies correct and current insurance cards and valid ID cards. Confirms correct CPT and ICD-9 coding on the patient requisition forms. Supports the Insurance Verification and Pre-Authorization Coordinator to ensure proper exam pre-authorizations, and provides needed support in a back-up role for this process. **Majority of patient scheduling is performed by Centralized Scheduling Team. Refers callers to the Centralized Scheduling line if front office is assisting other patients or short-staffed.* Assists patients with electronic check in system.* Guarantees that all files are maintained in a secure setting.* Performs Front Desk/Scheduler duties on all patients and maintains competency as evidenced by an initial and annual performance appraisal. Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, standards, and protocols to ensure effective departmental operations and quality patient care. Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge and understanding of Support Services/activities.* Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors by requiring and supporting the establishment, maintenance, and education of an effective safety management program.* Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of office supplies and materials, as well as patient preparations, to ensure smooth operations in the reception work area and non-interruption of patient services.* Participates in performance improvement activities that are prescribed for the receptionist position.* Remains proficient in the use of Information Management systems as needed.* Assures the adequate supply of all documents for the facility, to include those utilized by the staff. Maintains an adequate inventory of clerical operational supplies.* Utilizes information and communication technologies effectively and in accordance with HIPAA standards. Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality.* Effectively communicates operational activities and issues with co-workers, Supervisors, and Manager.* Assists in the handling of patient financial matters to include: * self-pay patients of the up-front payment requirements for patients with no insurance* Informing patients of MIF, LLC's policy on Advanced Beneficiary Forms* Providing directions to the various facilities* Informing the patients on the policies for co-pay and deductible collections at the time of visit as identified by the Insurance Verification Coordinator.* Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:* High school diploma or equivalent.* Requires a minimum of 2 years prior administrative/customer service experience preferably in a medical environment* Ability to work with physicians, staff, and patients in a confidential and efficient manner.* Strong working knowledge of MS Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook* Proven track record of excellent customer service and attention to detail* Basic office skills such as faxing, copying, filing* Experience answering a multi-line phone system is preferred.* Ability to prioritize and perform work in an organized, efficient and effective manner without constant supervision and direction.Hours for position are Monday - Friday with an occasional SaturdayPowered by JazzHRFvvg8VQruE
