As a member of the Accounting Team, the Payroll Accountant works in a fiduciary capacity performing highly detailed work in verifying, classifying, posting, and recording of all payroll transactions, and ensuring accurate payment of employees' paychecks. This position processes bi-weekly payroll and serves as the point-of-contact for all ADP time & attendance inquiries. The Payroll Specialist acts with integrity, ensuring monies and assets are protected against unauthorized use or removal, as well as from loss due to a criminal act or breach of trust. The ideal candidate should be able to work cross-functionally, multi-task, is a problem solver, a big picture thinker, and will have the opportunity to support process improvements to improve efficiency and by following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Process Company Payroll Bi-Weekly through ADP including reviewing Personnel Report Forms (PRF) from HR for accuracy, ensure all Special payments due are made; Commissions, Profit Share, Bonus, Severance Pay, Relocation Pay, Deferred Comp, etc.
  • Establish and maintain new and existing employee payroll profiles on ADP in co-ordination with HR.
    • Maintaining payroll files and systems, creating reports, and ensuring compliance with governmental laws and policies
      • Reconciling and booking necessary payroll journal entries into the General Ledger.
      • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements
      • Generating payroll reports for Managers to review
      • Maintain and reconcile Flexible Spending Account
      • Responsible for tasks relating to Pension Funds - submitting contributions bi-weekly, maintain backup, and provide Workers Comp & EOY Audit Payroll documents.
      • Aid employees and HR with payroll inquiries.
      • Register and set up any State and Local tax jurisdictions as necessary.
        • Bachelors Degree in Accounting / Finance with 2+ years Payroll experience.
        • Experience handling companies with 100+ employees.
        • 2 years pf ADP Experience, and MS Office Suite experience.
        • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred
        • MIP Abilla experience preferred.
        • High degrees of initiative, strong communicator, and ability to work in a complex and fast-paced environment.
