efforts of neoliberal policy proponents and the reactionary Right
and strengthen the small business sector as a proven path to an
equitable and vibrant economy.Support and develop small business
owners' leadership skills, critical analysis of neoliberal ideas,
and alternative approaches for a more equitable economy.Organize
these small business owners; conduct campaigns that win policies
that reduce concentrated economic and political power; establish a
set of public goods, and contribute to a more robust infrastructure
for further wins.Conduct research and share evidence that
demonstrates the widespread benefits of a more equitable economy
that supports thriving small businesses and, in turn, healthy
communities.Shift the public narrative and change the perception of
who small business owners are (in terms of race, class, gender,
motivations for going into business, and more) and what small
business owners value by elevating their voices.Position
DescriptionMain Street Alliance is looking for an Operations
Director, reporting to the Executive Director. The Operations
Director will play a critical role in financial and administrative
operations, including partnering with the Executive Director in
strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will be
detail-oriented, professional, independent, and reliable while
providing financial and operational support to the entire
organization. Duties will include (but are not limited to) the
areas listed below.Key Responsibilities:Financial Operations
(primary responsibility)Manage the operating budget, including
processing payments and reimbursements, creating vendor agreements,
tracking expenses, reconciling accounts, forecasting future
scenarios, and frequently reporting spending activities to the
Executive Director.Work in partnership with the Development Manager
to ensure reporting and compliance expectations.Maintain internal
control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, program
budgets, and actual expenditures.Coordinate the annual and monthly
close process with MSA's accounting firm.Coordinate all audit
activities with MSA staff and audit firms.Manage organizational
Balance Sheet, including cash flow, receivables, payables, and
loans.In partnership with the Executive Director, coordinate and
lead the annual budgeting process; administer and review all
financial plans and compare to actuals to identify, explain, and
correct variances as appropriate.Human Resources (secondary
responsibility)Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal
business and tax filings, including, but not limited to all
existing government and legal reporting requirements, including any
related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act
(FMLA), Paid Family Leave (PFL), Employee Retirement Income
Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation,
the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other
relevant local and state labor laws.In collaboration with the
Executive Director, plan, manage, and oversee organizational
financial best practices, policies, procedures, guidelines, and
tools to meet operational goals, identifying opportunities for
improvement.Collaborate with other team members and participate
constructively in team meetings and project planning.Perform other
operational duties, as needed.Partnership Planning & Oversight
(tertiary responsibility)Coordinate communication with
organizational partners and plan effective strategies to grow
partnershipLead monthly meetings with partnersTrack performance of
partnership and report to Executive Director and Operations
teamCoordinate with Operations and Communications on strategies to
grow partnerships with membersIdentify opportunities for new
strategic partnerships with MSA management teamQualifications:Our
ideal candidate is/has:A minimum of 5 years of experience with a
bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred)Enthusiastically loves
taking on responsibility for the accuracy, quality, and content of
all financial data, reporting, and audit coordinationCapable of
translating financial concepts to, and effectively collaborate
with, colleagues who do not have strong finance
backgroundsExperience supporting organizational budgeting processes
for an evolving organizationMust understand C3/C4 non profit
accountingPassionate about the mission of Main Street Alliance.

business ownersAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle

of Main Street AllianceWorkplace Conditions:The Operations Director
position is a remote position with occasional travel to
Alexandria,Virginia. Must be comfortable working with minimal
direct supervision from a remote setting.Requires the ability to
complete work in a timely and accurate manner individually and when
working as part of a team.Routine and repetitive telephone use,
Zoom video, repetitive typing, computer, reading required.
